The Luther Special Care Home is LutherCare's first facility. Founded in 1955 as a retirement home for 60 Saskatchewan residents, 7 years later a 65-bed nursing division was developed. Since then, 80 beds have been rebuilt and 49 fully renovated in 1987 & 1989. Today there are 129 beds which are used to provide level 3 & 4 care. This includes a secure 49-bed Special Needs Unit for residents with cognitive impairment.

The Special Care Home offers complete nursing care, spiritual care, community day programs, social & recreational programs, physiotherapy and occupational therapy services. These are all found in a compassionate environment based on the principles of caring for others.
